Moderation — Moderator Role

A dedicated, read-only dashboard role for users who need to see moderation logs and reports but should not have access to settings or management pages.

Overview

The Moderator role is a dashboard-only role in Mokito. It is distinct from Discord's built-in role system — you assign it from the web panel, not from Discord. A moderator gets a restricted dashboard layout with access to the moderation logs and reports pages, plus the guild overview and ticket transcripts. They cannot configure moderation settings, toggle commands, manage members, or change bot settings.

What a moderator is

A Mokito moderator is a trusted team member who needs to review moderation activity and work through reports, but does not need (and should not have) the power to reconfigure the server. In Discord, moderators can run all moderation slash commands (ban, kick, mute, etc.) — the same as managers. In the web panel, their access is intentionally narrower.

What moderators can see

A moderator's dashboard sidebar shows a subset of the full guild dashboard:

Overview — the guild summary page with stat cards and channel layout.
Tickets → Ticket History — the list of past tickets and individual transcript downloads. No ticket management actions.
Moderation → Logs — the full moderation audit trail, same as owners see.
Moderation → Reports — the full reports list and detail views, with the ability to add notes, upload attachments, resolve, and reopen.

What moderators cannot see

The following pages and actions are not available to moderators:

Refreshing guild data, managing members, or changing settings.
Any ticket management action beyond viewing transcripts.
Moderation settings, command toggles, or the moderator management page.
Bot settings, fun commands, notifications, embed builder, polls, or any other management page.

If a moderator navigates to a restricted page by URL, they get a 403 error.

The Moderators page

The Members → Moderators page in the guild dashboard is where you add and remove Mokito moderators. It has three sections:

What moderators can see — a summary of the allowed/not-allowed lists above, so anyone managing moderators understands the role before assigning it.
Add Moderator — a search field to find and add a member as a moderator.
Current Moderators — a table of every current moderator, with a remove button per row.

Add a moderator

Type a member's username, display name, or Discord ID in the Add Moderator search field. A dropdown filters your server's members as you type. Select the member and click Add. The member becomes a moderator immediately — they will see the moderator dashboard layout the next time they open the guild dashboard.

Who can be added. The guild owner, current managers, support team members, and existing moderators are excluded from the add list — they already have a dashboard role. Only regular members are eligible.

Remove a moderator

In the Current Moderators table, click the Remove button next to any moderator. A confirmation modal opens — confirm to proceed. The user loses moderator access immediately and will see the regular member dashboard layout on their next visit. Their moderation log and report history is not affected.

The moderator dashboard layout

Moderators see a dedicated dashboard layout (dashboard-guild-moderator) that is a slimmed-down version of the full guild dashboard. The sidebar shows only the pages they can access: Overview, Tickets (Ticket History only), and Moderation (Logs + Reports only). Everything else is hidden, not just greyed out.

The Moderation section in the moderator sidebar has only two links — Logs and Reports — not the Commands and Settings links that owners and managers see. This keeps the sidebar uncluttered for moderators and prevents confusion about what they can and cannot do.
